Moments that Mean Something

The ManChild called me today. He has legally changed his name. It was a decision long in the making. If the story wasn't so part of our lives, the ManChild and me, it would make me cry. But instead, I just feel a warm sense of rightness.

To understand, first you should read this.

He has taken his mother's name, to honor her. To have a bit more than photographs and other people's memories to give to his children.

I am happy beyond words.

Pam - that's awful. We told the ManChild in age appropriate terms (and details) from the beginning. I think he was close to sixteen when he was given the newspaper articles to read. The goal was that while a hard thing to deal with, it was never a huge shock.

Argh, family secrets are really bad. Janet, good for you, for raising such a fine man. That is a gift for both of you and for the rest of us, too.

Any chance for changing SC's stupid parole arrangements?
