Hell Just Froze Over, Get Your Ice Skates On

You know things are getting bad when I agree with Bill O'Reilly.

It is becoming clearer and clearer that the problem with getting any problems solved in America isn't the right, it isn't the left. It's not Democrats nor Republicans. It's not the Tea Party, it isn't the Coffee Party.

It is the absolute corruption of our political process in which it takes so much money to even run for an office that by the time any candidate wins, he/she has made so many deals with so many devils that he/she CAN'T do anything BUT serve their devils.

This is why there has been such a push to allow corporations to get involved in campaigns, sly back door foreign investment in political donations and the explosion in lobbyists.

Your representative no longer represents you. He represents the powerful and wealthy entities that put him in office. Their well being will always super-cede yours.

Always.

It's becoming clearer that we will never solve any problems of the poor or middle class until there is serious campaign reform. But are the people in control now too powerful, too entrenched in the halls of government to ever be turned out?

AMEN!!!!! I want to know what the goals are for some of our people running for office.....AND how will those goals be accomplished.......don't just tell me what you plan to do explain how you will do it!!! One of the people running for Congress In our area claims to be able to create jobs......great how??? They have held a state office for 4 years and we have had up to 14 percent unemployment in our part of the state......if they can create jobs how about starting here ?

Pam - Yes, ma'am. I'm sick of them throwing slogans out and don't really mean anything. One of our candidates claims she'll create jobs by lowering taxes (on whom?) and "cutting red tape". Huh? That's all that is keeping our unemployment rate so high? Red tape?

How about our crumbling infrastructure? Our soon to be outdated port? Our piss-poor educational system?

How about our national reputation as a state full of ignorant bigots with a clearly demonstrated good old boy system in place?

Janet, please, I don't want to follow a link to Bill O'Reilly--can you summarize, please? Pretty please?

On the other stuff--couldn't agree with you more. Wish I knew a good solution that didn't involve rioting in the streets. Which wouldn't do any good, anyway.

Sharon - the link is to O'Reilly's appearance on the Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Basically, he and Jon talk about how corrupt the election system is and how that is the biggest problem with moving the country forward, that elected representatives are so indebted to their benefactors that they can't do what they want or what they think is best, but rather, what will keep the money coming in.
