I am The Procrastination Queen

Really, I could put off breathing. You may call it lazy. I call it enjoying myself.

I saw a Blue Grosbeak a week or so ago. He only hung around for a couple of days so I think he was off looking for a girl friend (or boyfriend if he was a she).

I was reading the Harry Potter series again, but got swept up in the Philippa Gregory The Other Boleyn Girl mania going around at work. I liked it well enough to order a couple more of her books about the exploits of Henry VIII's court. I sort of liked The Boleyn Inheritance as a follow up to some of the characters from The Other Boleyn Girl. I had to put down The Virgin's Lover (about Queen Elizabeth, Henry and Anne Boleyn's daughter) because it was a little too Harlequin romancy for my taste. I'm about three chapters into The Other Queen (about Mary, Queen of Scots) and finding it as good as The Other Boleyn Girl.

For years, I was all about detective novels. Then I stopped reading fiction and was into the socio-political-anthropological non-fiction work. I suppose I'm moving on to historical fiction now.

There are worse things to be doing with my time, I suppose.

Loki sez: And this is one of them.

You actually can't put off breathing.

Even if you try really hard not to, the body says, "Oh hell no," after two or three minutes and breathes anyway.

I'm a huge historical fiction fan! If you're up for more, check out my website www.HistoricalNovels.info, where I've listed over 5000 historical novels, organized by time and place, plus over 100 reviews.

I think Philippa Gregory's novels are great and would agree that "The Boleyn Inheritance" was a good follow on from "The Other Boleyn Girl" - it was interesting to see Jane Boleyn's perspective. I also like Gregory's Wideacre trilogy. I haven't read "The Other Queen", so would be interested to hear your final opinion on it.

Mike - see, you get it!

Margaret - thanks for the link.

Ann Fan - Hopefully I'll remember to follow up. I tend to procrastinate a lot. :)

To combine detective stuff and historical fiction, I can offer one title (harder to procrastinate when there's only one, I hope):
The Daughter of Time by Josephine Tey.
You may want to follow that up with The Last Plantagenet by Thomas...somebody, I'm too lazy to get up and go look at my bookshelf or, for that matter, open up a new tab and look on Amazon. Anyway, it's not fiction, but it's entertainingly written, as I recall. Of course, it's been a couple or three decades since I read it...
