First we must admit that money is the impetus for everything. Money. If you want to know the "truth" of any political hot issue, look to where the money is.
Now, follow closely:
1. Illegals come here for jobs.
2. Businesses that hire them profit from the lower wages.
3. Businesses' bottom lines will suffer if they cannot hire illegals.
4. Businesses contribute to political campaigns.
5. Politicians won't go after the source - THE JOBS - because it would upset their contributors and they won't get money.
6. Illegals come here for jobs.
Go to the top and repeat for the rest of your life until someone grows the balls and/or ovaries to seriously go after the employers.
Let's say you were deadly allergic to wasps and bees. You put a hummingbird feeder in your yard so you can watch the hummingbirds. But bees and wasps start hanging out in your yard in greater and greater numbers, attracted by the nectar. Do you swat and kill individual bees and wasps or do you take down the feeder?

South Carolina now requires all employers to use E-Verify when hiring. Unfortunately the state doesn't have enough auditors to make sure that happens.
Rock, meet hard place. I just listened to a replay of Obama's speech. He didn't say it but it sounds like he knows the courts won't overturn the Arizona law and if Congress doesn't act soon the Federal government will lose control over the issue. What he also didn't say is what he thinks Congress should do about it.
Mike, I'm becoming such a cynic that I believe no-one in national politics wants to solve the issue because they get so much mileage out of scaring/herding voters with it.
