I need to get out and run some errands before the rain starts, but I put my Crosby, Stills and Nash station on Pandora and I never want to get up, except to dance.
I did my taxes yesterday and am now in the throes of my favorite post-taxes occupation: planning my birthday trip.
This year, as it is a BIG birthday year, we are planning a BIG trip: to Amsterdam! I'm very excited as I haven't been out of the country since I was eight when we moved to Japan.
I have been doing a little research since last summer and was very disappointed that a great little find - a B&B that was really studio apartments - is all booked up for the entire month. So back to square one on finding a place to stay.
So, if anyone out there in blogger land knows the city and has any tips, let me know.
Loki sez: I'd like to go to Amsterdam and see the Van Gogh museum.

Sometimes local Universitys
rent out available student housing..it's a great atmosphere and very reasonably priced. The American Embassy may provide some referels also.

One more thing...see if your library has the Rick Steves
Europe DVD (from PBS)series...he talks about traveling and staying in Amsterdam.

I spent a week in Amsterdam and loved it. It was unexepected since I was kicked out of Czechoslovakia. I didn't even have a hotel room booked but found a nice little place and spent a week wandering. Loved it.
Sorry to hear things have been so difficult.
Nothing wrong with dancing!
Wish I knew about Amsterdam, but I haven't been to Europe at all...yet. But I hope you have a fantastic time! Who's gonna take care of the cats while you're gone? Or is it too far away to have made all the arrangements yet?
Thanks for the input, everyone. I think I've found a place - thank goodness for traveler reviews on the inner-webs. I'm still going to look around a bit before deciding.
Joan - that is our very plan - to wander around. Perhaps a day trip to the Hague or Delft or to see windmills.
Sharon - the boyz granny usually takes care of them when we travel.
